And away we go!

Sitting in my coronary care course makes me both 1. much less passionate about global health... and 2. much less passionate about living in the moment in general. But, that might be due much more to my current attention level than anything else.

You see, my region is on a Transit strike, which means that I need to find a new way of getting to and from ... EVERYWHERE as I live in a suburb that popped up after the invention of the Car leading to many many subdivisions and residential areas that are NOT suited (much to my chagrin) to walking :(

Village health isn't just about our neighbors across "the ponds"... it is also about your actual neighbors. As the number of subdivisions and reliance on cars increases. What about those who are unable to obtain... or refuse to obtain an automobile (like ME!)?... so I suppose this post is self centered.

Public transit is a vital part of the community. To bring people to work, to bring people to the grocery store. It can be a great middle ground for people in all socioeconomic statuses, and on top of everything we are being a little gentler to our planet.

*sidenote: I'm lucky enough to borrow my mother's car and drove onto campus today... but because I abhorr rush hour traffic I ended up starting my drive at 6:15 this morning and got onto campus an hr and a half early for my morning class
